Nominations for Dubai World Cup night is a “who’s who” list of equine racing talents.
Included is the world’s #1, Arrogate, plus Mubtaahij and Hoppertunity. Songbird and Tepin are also nominated as are sprinters Mind Your Biscuits and Defrong.
In all, 779 horses from 22 countries received recognition, “We are gratified that our support for international racing in the form of subsidies and prize money continues to attract such a strong response from the world’s biggest names,” said Malih Al Basti, Meydan vice chairman and chairman of the Meydan Racing Committee.
Arrogate races for the $10 million Cup on March 25.

The 25th annual “Hearts Reaching Out” golf tournament, dinner and charity auction will be held on Monday, March 6 in the Tampa Bay area. The event benefits the Race Track Chaplaincy of America—Tampa Bay Downs Division and individuals served by the RTCA, and kicks off Tampa Bay Downs “Festival Week” leading towards Saturday’s Tampa Bay Derby. Cost for the tournament, dinner and auction is $100, with a $20 cost to those attending only the dinner and auction.
