Royal Delta and Fort Laurned headline Churchill Stakes

Two-time champion Royal Delta faces four to defend her Fleur de Lis Handicap crown this Saturday at Churchill Downs. It will be her first start after a disappointing finish in the $10 million Dubai World Cup. In the Stephen Foster Handicap, Fort Laurned, the 2012 Breeders Cup Classic winner, will work against a tough field of six to regain his dominance in the sport after his disappointing 2013 start at Gulfstream Park in March, where he stumbled, unseating jockey Brian Hernandez, and proceeded to race the track without a rider. Golden Ticket, Ron the Greek, Pool Play, Take Charge Indy and Successful Dan will also make their bids for the Foster’s 500K purse.

145th Belmont Stakes

The 145th running of the BELMONT STAKES will take center stage this evening in Elmont, New York. The lucky 13 race card carries great stakes that include: The Easy Goer S., RTN True North H. (Grade II), The Longines Just a Game S. (Grade I) featuring Hungry Island, Stephanie’s Kiten, Center Court, and Mizdirection, The Woody Stephens S. (Grade II) featuring Capo Bastone, Merit Man, Zee Bros, and Let Em Shine. The Woodford Reserve Manhattan H. (Grade I), which will include Point Of Entry, Optimizer, and Twilight Eclipse.
This year’s 145th running of the Belmont Stakes holds an exciting field of 14, including top picks: Orb, Oxbow, Revolutionary and Freedom Child. Kentucky Derby runner up Golden Soul and entry Incognito will also make a bid, as standout runners like Palace Malice, Overanalyze, and Giant Finish will take their shot at winning at a mile and a half. Will it be an Orb and Oxbow showdown? Will the filly Unlimited Budgetsurprise them all?

NBC Sports Network  will have undercard coverage today starting at 3 p.m. EST and Belmont Stakes coverage on NBC starting at 5 p.m. EST.
